The British bookie has awarded the prize since 1989 and has yet to fail in providing the thinking punter’s bedtime reading.

Football dominates the subject matter (and online betting in general) but the William Hill Sports Book of the Year has covered a wide range of subjects. Winning entries have dealt with rugby, boxing, golf, the Oxford-Cambridge boat race and cricket.

The winner gets £18,000 cash, a £2,000 free bet with Hills and a specially commissioned, hand-bound copy of their book.
