What does the fate of the favourite tell us?
The most successful betting favourites at Doncaster are those racing in non-handicaps for three-year-olds and upwards. This is consistent with the fate of the favourite generally.
Avoid betting on the favourite in handicaps for three-year-olds and upwards – fewer than one in five betting favourites wins. Two-year-old favourites (in races like the Racing Post Trophy) are marginally more consistent.
