About A Cunning Punt
Free betting tips
We’ve all won and lost a few quid betting.
Sometimes you’re up, and sometimes Lady Luck rains royally on your parade. But provided you get good value for your money, you’re in with a decent shout of beating the bookie.
That’s the Cunning Punt philosophy – value above everything else. We’ll lump on a short-priced favourite if we think it’s buying money, but we’ll oppose it with a long-shot if we think that’s the way to go. And we’re happy to give you free betting tips that espouse that Cunning Punt ethos.
Why bet - on sport or anything else?
Sometimes betting can be a source of pride – collecting on Motivator and Authorized after their Derby wins, having backed them at York a month earlier – and sometimes it can be a way of seeking vindication for those beliefs no-one else agrees with.
But betting’s always a source of fun. (Or it should be, which is why A Cunning Punt supports responsible gambling.)
So this site is intended to be a forum for punters to debate the sporting issues of the day. We’ll toss a few betting news stories and gambling opinions your way, together with some free betting tips that you can gnaw over, digest or spit out as you see fit.
And because life’s not just about sport, but you can bet on the rest of it anyway, we’ll chew over some political issues and get all Newsnight Review when the Booker Prize shortlist comes out.
Just like Richard & Judy then really, but you won’t be charged for premium-rate phone calls after the off.
About our betting tips
Each tip comes with a recommended stake in ‘points’, which means you can adopt a staking strategy that suits your betting budget.
The simplest (and cheapest) way to do this would be to equate one point to one pound – so a recommended 5-point stake at 2/1 would win you 10 points, and you’d get £15 back from your £5 investment.
