Heaven Sent chance for Spacious in the Nassau

By Bernie | July 31, 2009

It could pay to split your stakes between Heaven Sent and Spacious, the two Cheveley Park Stud runners in Saturday’s fillies Group 1 from Goodwood.

The two horses look evenly matched and good odds to land the BlueSquare Nassau Stakes against favourite Midday and second-fav Rainbow View.

The former may be a bit green as a three-year old and Rainbow View has disappointed all season, while Heaven Sent and Spacious have performed consistently at the highest level this term.

They’ve beaten each other on their last two outings, and I can’t split them today. But at 7/1 and 9/1 respectively it’s worth backing both. The cunning punt is to back a point on each to win: if it’s Heaven Sent (today ridden by champion jockey Ryan Moore) you’ll get eight points back; if it’s Spacious, Frankie Dettori’s mount again, you’ll get ten.

So, less your dual stake, it’s you’ll get a minimum return of 3/1 if either wins. While there’s some good opposition in the race away from the two favourites (Katiyra and Moneycan’tbuymelove looking the main threats), that’s a price worth snapping up.
