Best Online Betting Site award goes to williamhill.com at Irish Sports Betting Awards

By Matt | June 24, 2009

Betting website williamhill.com has won the Best Online Betting Site award at the inaugural Irish Sports Betting Awards in Dublin. Betfair, Boylesports.com and Ladbrokes.com were also nominated, but the judging panel decided that williamhill.com is currently the best betting website available to Irish punters.

William Hill spokesman David Hood said, “We’re delighted to receive this prestigious award. We listened to Irish punters and asked them what they wanted in a sports betting website, and I think the results are there for everyone to see.

“We’ve already seen a huge increase in Irish traffic on williamhill.com in 2009 and we think our website was a worthy winner of this award.”

More details of the awards and nominees are available at www.sportbettingawards.ie.

With six languages and multiple local currency options, including the Euro, Williamhill.com has been built to cater for an international betting public as well as Hill’s UK core market. Irish customers enjoy a wide range of betting markets on Irish sports like Gaelic football, hurling and FAI Premier Division and First Division soccer.

William Hill remains a leading sponsor of Irish horse racing, including the famous Galway Plate and Troytown Chase. It broadcasts every Irish horse race live over its website to customers who place a qualifying bet and offers Best Odds Guaranteed online on every single UK and Irish horse race.

It also gives customers a wealth of high-quality, independent information to help them pick winners. A team of dedicated sports writers preview top action across all sports, and the website provides Racing Post Spotlight and Verdict betting tips, OPTA football stats and audio/video podcasts featuring sports gurus like Tony Cascarino and Ron Atkinson.

With the strong Irish influence on the Cheltenham Festival, Hills secured the opinions of Champion jockey Tony McCoy and Donn McClean, the journalist, author and highly respected commentator on horse racing in both Ireland and the UK.

Hills say that the proof of success for williamhill.com within Ireland is evidenced by the steady growth of internet revenues throughout 2008. Overall interactive revenues grew 50 per cent faster in Ireland than the more traditional retail channels over the year.
