Wade into James without the Power in Premier League Darts
By Bernie | February 5, 2009
A NEW Whyte & Mackay PDC Premier League Darts season is upon us – and you don’t have to be much of a darts fan to know that Phil “the Power” Taylor will almost certainly run away with it.
The PDC World Champion is a best-priced 5/6 with Sportingbet to retain his title with the bookies reeling from the whacking they got from Taylor-backers at the Ladbrokes.com World Championship. High rollers might find some appeal at those odds, but there are more cunning punts to be had elsewhere in the Premier League.
Betting without Taylor looks a more exciting market and the 3/1 on offer at Hills on James Wade looks stand-out value.
For starters, dedicated arbers will be interested to see that while The Machine can be backed at those odds with William Hill, he can be laid on Betfair at 3.90 – giving you an 8p guaranteed return on every pound you stake (once Betfair’s outrageous commission has been levied – those market-beating odds don’t look so fair now, do they?).
But personally I think that arbing is about as much fun as a 90-day notice savings account and I’d rather not give £2.90 of every £3 I win to a complete stranger.
James Wade is the pick of the also-rans for me, far more than Raymond van Barneveld, and should get through his semi-final before being ritually dismissed by The Power in the final.

[...] 3: making arbing interesting Does any of this make arbing more interesting? After all, I recently said it was as exciting as a 90-day savings account – and it usually is. But when you can back a team that’s 500/1 and you expect the price to get [...]
