Fulham to give Hodgson revenge at Blackburn
By Matt | September 20, 2008
FULHAM should be the basis of any value betting multiple today, and this week’s free betting tip from A Cunning Punt is no exception.
Roy Hodgson can get revenge at Blackburn Rovers, the club that he parted company with in 1998, and add to the pressure that Paul Ince suddenly finds himself under.
Ince is finding that the step up to the Premier League is a big one – and that Mark Hughes is a tough act to follow. Blackburn look a misfiring outfit, especially without David Bentley, and the Cottagers should have more than enough attacking power to pick up all three points. The 11/4 on offer at Corals is far too big and I’m having some of it.
Talking of misfiring outfits, Newcastle United go to West Ham United today and although I’m too late to tell you about the 11/10 that was on offer at various bookies during the week – it’s all been snapped up – even money is still available on the Hammers to nail the rudderless Magpies.
I’m increasingly reminded of the Keystone Cops when I watch Newcastle United. They’re in black and white, they run about pointlessly, and they make me laugh.
Everyone who follows football knows their problems so I won’t repeat them or offer my idea of a solution here. But I can’t see anything but a home win for the Iron, whose own problems are masked by the comedy northerners.
There’s little good value elsewhere on the betting coupons today, with the bookies slashing their odds as the bankers become obvious. Birmingham City, Bradford City and Millwall will feature on thousands of accas today, and one of them will no doubt go pop and deposit the general public’s hard-earned straight into the bookies’ satchels.
But Oldham Athletic look a good bet away at Hartlepool United in League One. Jeff Stelling might dance around whenever James Brown scores a goal, but I think it’ll be John Sheridan in the Oldham dugout who’ll be dancing today.
Oldham can be backed at 11/4 with Coral – who perhaps have been listening to their brand ambassador a bit too much.
Sheridan has players back for the Latics, and the monkey hangers will have one eye on Tuesday’s League Cup tie at Elland Road. Hartlepool are there for the taking, and I think Oldham are worth a punt.
Selections
- Three two-point doubles and a two-point treble on Fulham, West Ham United and Hartlepool at around 20/1 with Corals
- A two-point single on Fulham (11/4) to beat Blackburn Rovers
